2005 – Cajun musician at National Folk Festival

In 2005 Margot taught Cajun dancing with Ray Simpson, where Ray Abshire from Louisiana and Melbourne Cajun Musicians playied at the National Folk  Festival in Canberra Easter.  Margot applied to the National Folk Festival to have Cajun accordion player, Ray Abshire brought over from Louisiana to play for Margot’s Cajun dance workshop.  The festival offered to pay his air fare over from Louisiana and gave Ray accommodation, near the festival.

Margot orgainsed Melbourne musicians to  play with Ray – Andy Baylor and Nick Dear on Cajun fiddles, Andrew Le Blanc on Cajun French vocals and guitar and Lachlan Dear on double Bass, with Margot on Cajun triangle.   They all had a practise on the Thursday before the festival and were all happy with the sound.  They played in two concerts, the Cajun dance and Ray Abshire ran a Cajun accordion workshop.
